Las Vegas: Former Lakers champion reacts to Bam Adebayo-Tyler Herro confrontation

Former Los Angeles Lakers champion Danny Green expressed surprise regarding reports of an altercation between Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. The incident reportedly involved Adebayo striking Herro, his former teammate, during a confrontation on Friday. Green noted that Herro appeared to be in good spirits shortly after the reported scuffle, sitting with his new Milwaukee Bucks teammates at a Summer League game.
Green, speaking on his “Green Room” podcast, stated he was “taken aback” by the news. He observed that Herro looked “fine” and was “chilling” with his teammates at the Summer League, suggesting the scuffle might have been minor and exaggerated. Despite his surprise, Green also mentioned that he was not entirely surprised by Adebayo being the aggressor, describing Adebayo as a “real dude” who would confront someone directly.
Details of the Reported Confrontation
The altercation between the former Miami Heat teammates reportedly took place at a gym inside the Resorts World Casino. This occurred before a Heat versus Bucks Summer League game. According to sources who witnessed the incident, Adebayo walked onto the courts, and Herro made a comment. Adebayo then approached Herro and reportedly punched him without hesitation. Herro’s AAU coach confronted Adebayo, and Herro reportedly yelled at his former teammate while being escorted out by security personnel. Both players left the scene independently.
A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Police Department confirmed that officers were not called to the scene. The Heat acknowledged awareness of the incident but declined to comment. A spokesperson for the Bucks also stated the team was aware, though coaches and team officials declined to comment. Neither Herro nor Adebayo has publicly addressed the incident.
Context of the Altercation
The reported physical confrontation follows a trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat. As part of this deal, Tyler Herro, along with Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick, was sent to the Milwaukee Bucks. Reports indicate a “level of resentment” among some former Miami Heat players regarding Adebayo’s status within the organization, with some reportedly viewing him as the “chosen one” who was never involved in trade rumors and signed a significant extension.
Before the trade, Adebayo was reportedly the only player Miami was unwilling to include in trade discussions. He has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Heat, earning six All-Defensive selections and three All-Star nods. During the 2025-26 season, Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also extended his shooting range, making 127 three-pointers after hitting 102 triples in his first eight seasons combined.
Screenshots of direct messages between a fan and Herro were leaked after the trade, where Herro discussed the dynamics of the Heat. Although Herro did not name Adebayo, the posts suggested criticism of Adebayo, including a comment questioning a player’s salary for being a top-tier defender. Adebayo’s average salary for his current contract is $53.4 million, making him Miami’s top-paid player. Herro also posted an image to his Instagram story showing players with the lowest field goal percentage on midrange attempts, with Adebayo ranking tenth at 35.9%.
Despite these recent developments, Adebayo and Herro had a cordial relationship during their time as teammates. In a past vodcast, Herro asked Adebayo who on the Heat would have his back in a fight, to which Adebayo responded, “I’mma say T, just cause we got the longest relationship.” Herro replied, “Yeah, I’m coming.”
The reported incident occurred on Friday, July 10.
