Seattle Seahawks reportedly in contact with Terrion Arnold’s agent

Seattle Signing? Seahawks 'In Touch' With 'Troubled' CB Terrion Arnold

Seahawks Contact Agent Amid Legal Proceedings

The Seattle Seahawks are among several NFL franchises that have reportedly been in touch with the agent for Terrion Arnold, a former first-round draft pick. Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions on June 29 following his arrest on felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. Despite his ongoing legal situation, multiple teams are showing interest in the 23-year-old defensive back.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, Arnold’s agent, Nicole Lynn, stated that the former Alabama player worked out for the Houston Texans and has also been in contact with the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets, in addition to the Seahawks. Lynn also testified in court that there is a “very good likelihood” Arnold could be signed within the next 45 days.

The legal case involving Arnold returned to court recently for a hearing to determine if he would be required to wear a GPS monitor while under house arrest. Lynn’s testimony regarding team interest was presented as evidence to support Arnold’s position, suggesting he might be practicing or playing football in 2026. The judge ultimately denied the prosecution’s motion, meaning Arnold will not be required to wear a GPS device, though he remains confined to his home except for work and meetings with attorneys.

Seattle’s Defensive Backfield Situation

The Seahawks’ interest in Arnold comes after Tariq Woolen, a former Pro Bowl defensive back, joined the Philadelphia Eagles. While Woolen had reportedly struggled to maintain his early professional form, Seattle’s defensive backfield still features strong talent. Devon Witherspoon, a 2023 first-round pick, has developed into a prominent corner, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2025 and appearing in three Pro Bowls.

Josh Jobe, a former Alabama national champion, is expected to fill the role opposite Witherspoon. Additionally, Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori are handling the back end of the Seahawks’ defense. Some observers suggest that Seattle’s current defensive unit is considered Super Bowl-caliber with or without Arnold.

Arnold was the No. 24 overall pick just two years ago, having earned First-Team All-SEC honors in his final season at Alabama, where he contributed to the Crimson Tide’s College Football Playoff appearance. However, his two seasons with the Lions have reportedly been inconsistent, marked by struggles in coverage and penalties. The Seahawks’ current involvement appears to be more about due diligence rather than an immediate pursuit, with the situation potentially changing once Arnold’s legal issues are resolved.

Potential Impact and Future Steps

The question remains whether any of the inquiring teams will confirm their interest or proceed to sign Arnold. If a player works out for a team and is not signed promptly, it often indicates that a signing may not occur in the immediate future. Another factor is the possibility of the NFL placing Arnold on the Commissioner Exempt list, which could further impact a team’s decision to sign him.

Despite the challenges, Arnold’s talent at age 23 is notable. His agent’s testimony in court on Friday indicated a strong possibility of him being signed in the near future.
