Impact on the Sixers Roster
James, who will turn 42 in December, is expected to fill the power forward spot in the Sixers‘ starting lineup. The health of Joel Embiid remains a key factor for the Sixers, as he has played in 96 regular-season games over the last three seasons. Embiid returned from an emergency appendectomy in the first round of the playoffs last season and had a strong performance, but missed a game in the second round against the New York Knicks, leading to a sweep. James’ usage rate last season was 26.2%, ranking 33rd among players who started at least 50 games. With the talent surrounding him in Philadelphia, he may not need to score 20 points per game, which could benefit his longevity at 41 years old.
