Major League Baseball has released the full regular season schedule for all 30 teams for the 2027 season. This schedule indicates a potential historic start, with games slated to begin on Thursday, March 25. This date would mark the earliest stateside Opening Day in the league’s history if the schedule holds.
The Seattle Mariners are set to host the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day. Their early season schedule includes a homestand against both the Red Sox and the Texas Rangers. Seattle is scheduled to play seven games in March and 16 home games through April 16, accounting for 20% of their total home games. The team’s home stadium, T-Mobile Park, features a retractable roof, which could facilitate play during the early spring.
The Mariners’ schedule also highlights a matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers in May. June is noted as a busy period, with only two days off between May 28 and July 5. The team will have a home-heavy July and August before concluding the regular season with a road-laden September, finishing their homestands against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Detroit Tigers are also scheduled to open their 2027 season on Thursday, March 25, hosting the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park. This would be the earliest regular-season MLB game ever played in Detroit. Previously, the earliest home opener for the Tigers was on March 30, 2018, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Tigers have played three games on March 31 in past seasons.
The Tigers’ initial schedule for March includes games against the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland. In April, they are set to play against teams such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, the New York Mets, and the New York Yankees. Their April schedule also includes matchups with Minnesota, the Boston Red Sox, and Arizona.
However, the feasibility of this schedule is subject to the upcoming expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement after the 2026 postseason. Many within the baseball industry anticipate a potential lockout, which could be prolonged, as owners continue to advocate for a salary cap. The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 13 at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

The 2027 schedule for the Detroit Tigers outlines various series throughout the season. In May, they are slated to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado, San Diego, Atlanta, Texas, San Francisco, St. Louis, Miami, and Kansas City. June will see them play against Minnesota, Kansas City, Cleveland, Houston, Seattle, Toronto, Pittsburgh, and the New York Yankees.
July’s schedule for the Tigers includes games against Cleveland, Kansas City, Baltimore, and the Chicago Cubs before the All-Star break. Following the break, they will play Toronto, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, and Houston. August features matchups with the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox, Athletics, Tampa Bay, and Washington.
The final month of the regular season, September, has the Tigers playing against Pittsburgh, Texas, Cleveland, Boston, Minnesota, Athletics, and the Chicago White Sox. The schedule was released on the same day the NHL and Red Wings released their schedules for 2026-27.
